Sleeping Babies

Contribution by Chaya

This is a photo of my friend’s nephew, sleeping. I purposely waited for him to be napping, so I could capture an innocent expression. Though his face is in the center of the photograph, it is framed by the pillows and blankets. I really enjoy this picture and it communicates this little characters features and adorability.

  1. This picture is adorable..given the subject, there's no way it couldn't be. I agree with you and think that centering the subject worked in this case because of the way the blankets and pillows frame him. There is nice contrast in texture and between the lines of the fabric and the curves of the baby. The black and white treatment, combined with the lighting is probably, to me, what makes this shot so beautiful. The lighting is somewhat dramatic but creates a very peaceful and innocent mood, which is perfect for this photograph.

  2. I really like this photo. An innocent baby always draws a viewers eye. I love how full his cheeks are. I wish you would have pumped the contrast scale up a little more. Everything seems sort of mid tone gray. I agree, the pillows and blanket does help to frame the baby. Good work

  3. I really like your photo as well. I like how it is in black and white, it brings an overall innocence to the piece. I do think however, that you could have a little more contrast in the piece to really help it pop. My favorite part in this image is his hand,I like how the light hits it creating more contrast. Good Job.

  4. This picture is absolutely precious! You are so right taking a picture of a baby while he or she is sleeping really does capture it's innocence. I think making the photograph black and white adds a little more to the picture as well. The lighting is perfect! good job on this one!
